The banknote features a gigantic and unique intaglio motif. The result of an intaglio printing is a highly-detailed and structured print image that is appreciated for its depth and complexity, as well as for the tactility of the motif in the paper.
The depiction of the coffee plant on the obverse is a latent image KIPP. Using intaglio printing, parallel lines were created that run perpendicular to the lines of the background. The raised lines cast shadows and, when viewed at an oblique angle, make the image appear as an achromatic image. When the banknote is turned 90 degrees, the image visible from the viewing angle changes from the coffee plant to the word "BURUNDI". This is called the KIPP effect, after the German word “kippen” for tilt.
The issue year, 2025, is integrated into the pattern on the obverse and filled in with micro lines resembling waves of water.
The three stars from the national flag are featured as a hologram on the obverse and change color when the banknote is tilted.
The design contains many delicate lines and complex elements in microprint.
Each note has a unique 8-digit serial number with two prefixes and a serial letter. The first prefix BRB is the abbreviation of the name of the bank. The second prefix AF stands for "African fauna".

The 12 triangles depicted in a line pattern on the left and right of the reverse are coated with gold.
The background design is based on the national flag and is complemented by delicate guilloche patterns.

Paper
The banknote is made of security paper with cotton content (95 g/m²) and the watermark „Globe“. The paper features UV dull, 2 invisible UV fibers (yellow and blue), 2 visible fibers (red and blue) and UV „starlight“ granulate with 2 colors (yellow and blue).
Two transparent security threads have been embedded during the manufacturing process. They have 3 UV colors with rainbow effect (red, yellow and blue) and guilloche micro lines.

Printing
The security paper is printed in a complex process consisting of different process stages. Offset, intaglio and digital printing are used.
Thanks to the intaglio printing, you can feel the animals on the obverse of the note as raised motifs. In addition, the design contains many delicate and complex elements. Use a magnifying glass to see the country name, denomination and other details in microprint.
A latent image KIPP was also created in the lower part of the obverse during the intaglio printing process. When the banknote is turned, the image visible from the viewing angle changes from a coffee plant to the word "BURUNDI".

UV design
Under UV light, many additional motifs become visible on both sides of the banknote. The photorealistic RGB UV printing, in which all three primary colors (red, green and blue) are used, is an innovation in banknote production.

Gold and holographic features
The three stars from the national flag are featured as a hologram on the obverse and change color when the banknote is tilted. The security holographic foil in golden color is applied using the hot foil stamping process.
